Eggs are one of the few foods considered to be a complete protein, because they contain all 9 essential amino acids. Each egg has about 6 grams of protein and about 14 different nutients.
Here some egg facts you should know.:
All eggs should be kept refrigerated at all times.
The egg shell is quite porous and washing the outside of an egg can significantly reduce the lifetime and freshness of eggs.
The egg is protected by the hen's bloom which helps protects and seals the pourous egg shell.
The best eggs are fresh eggs directly from farmer to the retail store and not pre-processed (other than candling) or washed.
Red spots on the yolk are naturally occuring. They occur in about 1 out of every 100 eggs. They generally diminish in size as the egg ages and a red spot could mean that it is a fresh egg! A spot does not mean that the egg has been fertilized.
There is no difference in nutrition from a white egg or a brown egg.
